【ADF Web Magazine】LIVING Modernity: Experiments in the Exceptional and Everyday 1920s-1970sIn this insightful article, Matteo Belfiore reviews LIVING Modernity, an ambitious exhibition at The National Art Center, Tokyo, that traces the radical transformation of residential architecture from the 1920s to the 1970s. Co-curated by Ken Tadashi Oshima, the exhibition explores how iconic architects such as Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Lina Bo Bardi, and Alvar Aalto reimagined the home—not just as a structure, but as a vessel for modern living. Through themes like hygiene, materiality, windows, kitchens, media, and landscape, the exhibition examines the social, cultural, and technological shifts that continue to influence domestic design today. Rich with full-scale installations, original furniture, and multimedia storytelling, LIVING Modernity invites visitors into a dynamic, evolving narrative of how we live—and how we might live tomorrow. |
