Paris-based Japanese ceramic sculptor and photographer Eri Maeda received the Gallery Prize at C14 PARIS 2026, alongside Adèle Gervaise and Xavier Castro. Presented in partnership with Galerie Vallois in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the award offers the laureates a one-month exhibition at the gallery. In this article, Maeda introduces her new series, “Daytime Nightmare,” whose vivid ceramic sculptures transform everyday household objects into mischievous, creature-like hybrids, challenging social conventions and gender expectations. Ceintuur Theater is housed in a renovated cinema built in 1921 on Ceintuurbaan, one of the main streets in Amsterdam’s De Pijp neighborhood. Dutch interior design studio Studio Elèn Letort converted the building into an all-day restaurant, preserving much of its original character while adding contemporary elements. The exposed brickwork, structural elements and double-height interior remain intact, keeping the building’s history visible. The new interior draws on early 20th-century architecture, particularly the Amsterdamse School, an architectural movement that developed in Amsterdam between 1910 and 1930 and is known for expressive brickwork, sculptural details and curved forms. Rounded shapes, geometric lines and carefully proportioned additions appear throughout the space. These features maintain an open feel while creating more intimate areas. Acoustic curtains help control sound and define the upper level without fully enclosing it.

Architecture and urban design practice X Architects has unveiled “Zayed Waterfront,” a proposal to reimagine Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi’s historic port district. The conceptual masterplan covers approximately 2.3 million square metres and is organised into three districts focused on cruises, business and resort activities. It would retain the area’s working maritime character while extending public space from the Corniche into the port and towards Saadiyat Island. Plazas, promenades, water transport, cultural facilities and coastal planting come together in a visioning proposal, rather than a completed development.

Inside, the natural texture of wood is balanced with contemporary materials such as metal and mirrors, creating a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. The Alexandre de Paris Seongsu flagship store brings the craftsmanship and elegant brand image cultivated by the French maison into the spatial experience. The exterior creates a refined and understated impression through discreet signage and high-quality materials, avoiding excessive branding. Inside, warm-toned wood and stone are complemented by metal details, creating a space that combines comfort with sophistication.

At Maison Baccarat in Paris’s 16th arrondissement, the seasonal restaurant and bar Le Jardin has opened. The property features a boutique, tasting room, bar, and other spaces, with Le Jardin added to the courtyard in 2025. Designed by landscape designer Jérémie Attali, the garden creates an urban oasis with lush plantings, a vegetable garden, and a reflecting pool. The entire Maison Baccarat has been designed as a cohesive experience, inviting visitors to discover a story that unfolds throughout the property. Overlooking Notre-Dame Cathedral, Nanna, a literary péniche, has opened as a new cultural destination dedicated to literature. Created by Artflux, which has developed floating cultural spaces dedicated to art, photography, music, and other creative fields, Nanna represents a new initiative focused exclusively on literature. Centered around a collection of approximately 5,000 books, the space is designed to host a wide range of activities beyond reading, including conversations with authors, book launches, readings, and writing workshops. A historic riverboat has been transformed into a contemporary cultural venue, offering a unique setting for literary encounters.

At South Street Seaport in New York, on the piers at the southern tip of Manhattan that are always bustling with tourists, Italy’s Balloon Museum has opened its first permanent location in the United States. Its inaugural exhibition, “DAYDREAM – Air Becomes Art,” explores the invisible element of “air” through balloons, incorporating light, sound, and other sensory elements into large-scale installations. Visitors are invited to walk through, touch, and interact with the artworks, creating an immersive exhibition that can be experienced with the whole body. One of the highlights of the exhibition is “Snowy/Windy/Spring on Planet Z” by world-renowned performance artist Marina Abramović. Combining a giant, inflatable grass-like sculpture with artificial snow, light, and sound, the installation creates a fantastical environment reminiscent of an otherworldly planet. As a new kind of art destination where visitors can experience art through their entire bodies, the Balloon Museum is drawing new flows of visitors to the South Street Seaport.
