HKTDC holds DesignInspire 2020
DesignInspire, an annual creative showcase presented by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), is a celebration of world-class designs by global creative gurus, trending brands and design academies and institutions.
This year, DesignInspire will lead a virtual journey for industry elites and the public from December 3-9, 2020. Under the theme “Design for Good”, it will ponder how design can contribute positive energy to us, the community and the business world. This one-week virtual experience will feature an engaging showcase of designer projects, brilliant designer stories, fun interactive experiences and a range of inspiring talks and creative workshops. ADF proudly supports DesignInspire 2020 as a media partner.

BODW 2020 : Beyond virtual. LIVE global
In times of change and ambiguity, this year’s BODW is curated on the theme VISION 20/21 and is about finding clarity in uncertainty. BODW 2020 is happening virtually from November 30 to December 5, 2020. Registration is now open. Early bird offer available till November 3. ADF joins the Fuorisalone Digital
ADF has joined the new digital platform "Fuorisalone Digital", released by Fuorisalone.it.
The Milano Salone (Salone Internazionale del Mobile) canceled its 2020 edition, but the "Furio Salone" official site holds the "Fuorisalone Digital" from 15 to 21 June 2020.
ADF exhibits the "ADF Milano Salone Design Award 2020" winning piece, "CYLINDER x MATERIAL" designed by Rie Aruga, which was scheduled to be showcased at the "Fuori Salone" during the Milano Design Week.

ADF acknowledged a media partnership with HKTDC for DesignInspire
NPO Aoyama Design Forum (ADF) has acknowledged a media partnership with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for DesignInspire, the exhibition of design and innovation, held by every December. Through the media partnership, we will work together to proceed with the activities aimed at the development of the design industry, and we will convey beneficial information to everyone and try to lead to the development of the design industry.

MIID ANNUAL BALL & AWARDS NIGHT 2019
NPO Aoyama Design Forum (ADF) attended the MIID Annual Ball and Awards Night 2019 as one of the award sponsors for this noteworthy celebration at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on November 22nd, 2019. It was the glorious and glamorous Malayan film industry like it’s 1956. This event was organized by the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID). MIID has hosted various award programs recognizing and celebrating different interior designers across Kuala Lumpur and beyond. It is their honor to recognize each of the award recipients for their many accomplishments.

"Japanese Materials" at MATERIAL IN TIME - METAL -｜ PMQ / THE LAB
A design exhibition on the theme of “Japanese materials”at“MATERIAL IN TIME - METAL-” will be held from 29 Nov（Fri） to 31 Dec（Tue）, at a creative facility in Hong Kong, PMQ and from 4 Jan（Sat）to 19 Jan（Sun） at THE LAB.
Kaori Akiyama, the founder of STUDIO BYCOLOR, which is known for various creations with designs that express the appeal of colors and materials, launched this exhibition, as a platform to communicate Japanese creativity to the world through “materials”. Last year's first “MATERIAL IN TIME -PAPER-” was attended by more than 2,000 visitors, and the two exhibited works received the DFA Asian Design Award *.
＊ DFA Asian Design Award: The largest design award in Asia organized by the Hong Kong Design Center.
The main theme of this exhibition is “metal”, which is based on “exhibition”, “sales” and “talk session with local creators(Canceled due to Hong Kong situation)” of works and products by companies with unique technologies selected from Japan and up-and-coming designers. 8 works of designers and companies will be on display and products of 8 brands will be sold at ARTS & CRAFTS STUDIO in PMQ and THE LAB, one of Asia’s first sustainable lifestyle select shop.

Business of Design Week 2019
The eagerly anticipated "Business of Design Week (BODW)" organised by Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC), the flagship event in the realm of design for Hong Kong and the world, is returning this early December. BODW is organised by HKDC. This year's partner country, the UK, is known for its creative power that is spread across all sectors, making it one of the world’s greatest when it comes to “soft power”.
This time BODW will bring together some of the biggest names in British design, along with more than 70 renowned speakers from over 10 countries and cities. BODW 2019｜Foster + Partners: Architects invited to spearhead lunar habitation
Foster + Partners, an award-winning British architectural design and engineering firm, has won the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize multiple times for their ground-breaking visions. With over 1,500 architects, the practice is responsible for many of the most recognised landmarks on earth, as well as a range of diverse and forward-thinking design projects from Washington DC’s Apple Carnegie Library and Saudi Arabia’s Haramain High Speed Rail, to OLED TV screen and designer chairs.
What’s more, Foster + Partners are now reaching for the moon. They have been invited to be part of a consortium set up by the European Space Agency to use 3D printing and robots to construct lunar habitations.Young Wei-yang Chiu, partner at Foster + Partners, will attend BODW 2019 to talk about some of the prominent projects from Foster + Partners.

Thomas Heatherwick, the genius who likes to solve problems!｜BODW 2019
Thomas Heatherwick (UK) is increasingly known for his high profile architectural projects. In just a few years, these projects have been awarded or completed —Zeitz MOCAA in South Africa (opened in 2017), Coal Drops Yard in London (opened in 2018), Google California Headquarters (in collaboration with BIG), Google London headquarters (in collaboration with BIG), renovation of the London Olympic venues, Vessel in New York (opened in 2019)— making him one of the hottest names in architecture today. We introduce architect Thomas Heatherwick, who will participate as a speaker at BODW 2019, a design event held in Hong Kong this December.

"MATERIAL IN TIME" is a platform for integrating both the wealth of materials supporting Japanese traditional arts and crafts and new materials created through advanced research and development with design and communicating them to the world. Following on from “paper” last year, this year ’s theme is “metal”.
Various kinds of metals smelted from mines. Please take a look at how it was sublimated into various works and products by Japanese creativity.
