Report on the Milano Salone Design Award -The Milano Salone del Mobile-

11th April 2019 was one of the central days of the most outstanding global event for design: The Milano Salone del Mobile. More than fashion, more than any other creative activity in the Italian pulsating centre of creativity, the Salone is an event that attracted a multitude of visitors from an incredible variety of sectors directly or indirectly connected to design.

It is in this context that ADF organizes every year a “Fuori Salone” (Outside the Salone) event in the premises of Garde Italy office located in the trendy district of Via Tortona 37.
This year was the occasion for ADF to showcase two events in a single shot: a piece of furniture (Utsuroe) that is presented every year for the event and the Milano Salone Award.

The two events were commonly presented.

“UTSUROE” Considering human mind as a portable thing, this furniture moves one’s mind, not itself.

ADF Milano Salone Design Award is an award that is already at the 10th edition and attracts designers from every part of the World. The theme for 2019 was “Portable Space”. The winner of the Award had the opportunity to show their creation in the premises of Via Tortona 37. The winners of the Award showed their creation named “Tomi” (an acronym of Tokyo and Milano) a portable space composed by scaffolding pipes enclosing a bench and a table and walled by a Japanese Noren Curtain. The creators, a group of Architects led by Alessandro Pennesi, introduced their creation to an audience composed by designers, creators, and guest from the Japanese and Italian business community in Milan.

Award winning piece, “TOMI”.

Following the presentation, a highly appreciated sushi cocktail party was held while the guests networked.
