ADF Art Gallery Project Vol.22 Koreran Painting Exhibition “Pushkomakia”

ADF (NPO Aoyama Design Forum) will hold Zelan's painting exhibition "Pushkomakia" as the 22nd art exhibition "ADF Art Gallery Project" from April 17 (Mon) to April 22 (Sat), 2023.

The title of this exhibition, "Psychomachia," is a Latin allegorical poem written by Prudentius around the 5th century, about the struggle between seven virtues and seven vices. Since ancient times, various artists have created works in the form of sculptures and prints. Virtue and vice are often represented in the form of angels, and in poetry the virtue always triumphs over the vice, but in these works it seems that the angels are simply fighting each other.

Perhaps because we seek stability in our brains, we want to clearly separate good from evil, but in reality, good and evil are entwined and influence each other, creating a situation where we cannot decide between them. In this exhibition, we will exhibit mixed techniques that combine acrylic paint dripping technique called fluid art, which is still rarely practiced in Japan, with collages such as human figures created with AI. Please enjoy the undifferentiated and mysterious images that remind you of the scene of the creation of things/phenomena.

Patience is quiet, her enemy, wrath,
waiting to destroy itself with its own violence

Indulgence comes from the end of the world, where the sun sets
reputation means nothing to her
because it is already lost

是蘭 Zelan profile:
Zelan left Sony's management at an early stage and became an artist due to an encounter and recommendation from Mr. Kenji Kitagawa, a leading figure in copperplate engraving and collage. Using a variety of techniques, she always creates by chance, selection, and combination, and expresses this world as a "phantom" in which everything is related and changes through mysterious human figures and rigid abstract images. .

In addition to solo exhibitions, she has participated in many art fairs and exhibitions such as the Kudoyama Art Festival (Wakayama), the Kyoto Art Center Geibunkyo Exhibition, and the Iwakuni Biennale (Yamaguchi). She has received multiple awards, including the FEI Print Award for International Prints, the Art Category Gold Award, and the National Washi Painting Exhibition Art Category Gold Award.
