This December, Design Shanghai will open its doors to present a brand new state-of-the-art design event - Design Shenzhen from December 9-12, 2021. Building on the reputation and energy of Design Shanghai, with its unique market-leading position and track record of showcasing international design at the highest level, Design Shenzhen will illuminate the city's unique cultural and creative identity. With over 150 world-class brands and installations, Design Shenzhen will be the largest curated event of its kind ever held in the city. Design and architecture pioneers Gaetano Pesce, Carlo Ratti and MVRDV will lead the show's forum, and the exhibition will work with more than 20 collaborative partners, including Good Design Select, RIBA and Beijing Contemporary, to create groundbreaking elements, including the "Future Home" concept, which brings together cross-industry designers to create inspiring concepts for the homes of the future. Design Shenzhen is the new source of innovative art, design and technology for many brands and a gateway to the Chinese market.

Shenzhen, once a fishing village in southern China's Guangdong Province, is one of China's best-known economic miracles of the past 40 years, and its gross domestic product now ranks third among cities in mainland China. The city's arts and culture industry have developed rapidly and the city has one of the largest architecture, design, culture and creative communities in China. Design Shenzhen is now a major design destination and will be the first event of its kind in Shenzhen, bringing together the best design talent for the first time.

Design Forum
This year, the renowned Design Forum presents itself under the motto 'Nature and Technology Together Create Hope and Harmony'. It is about how scientists, technologists, innovators and entrepreneurs around the world are developing materials and products that not only create no waste, but also sequester carbon. 40 renowned architects, designers and thought leaders are invited to speak on this year's theme. Gaetano Pesce, 20th century Italian architect and design pioneer; Carlo Ratti, Italian architect, engineer, inventor, educator and activist, London-based industrial designer and founder of Layer Benjamin Hubert; Satoshi Ohashi of Zaha Hadid Architects; and Steven Smit, Director (Asia) of architecture and urban planning firm MVRDV are just a few of the esteemed professionals participating in this year's Forum. In addition to these design and architecture pioneers, the forum will also be a stage for emerging and local Chinese designers to share their ideas and creative inspirations and showcase their contribution to the design field.
