International competition exploring architecture across human and non-human intelligences
The Association of Siamese Architects (ASA) has opened entries for the "ASA Experimental Design Competition 2026." The competition will begin accepting entries on February 10, 2026, and will close on April 9, 2026. Open to participants worldwide, it welcomes proposals in architecture, urban design, and landscape design. Participants may select any site as the context for their proposal. ADF (NPO Aoyama Design Forum) collaborates with ASA to support this competition.
A Theme of Hybridized Intelligences
This year’s theme, "HYBRIDIZED WISDOMS," explores the relationship between human knowledge and craft and non-human intelligences such as ecological systems, climate processes, computational models, and artificial intelligence. The competition reconsiders architecture as a process shaped by the interaction of multiple intelligences rather than a single author.
Clarifying Human and Non-Human Roles
Participants are required to clearly demonstrate how human and non-human agencies interact within their proposals. While the use of AI and other tools is not restricted, entrants must specify the role and level of influence of each. Human judgment and creativity must remain clearly identifiable.
