Tokyo Photographic Art Museum – ¡ÈTOP 30th Anniversary Pedro Costa Innervisions¡É
Pedro Costa, the renowned Portuguese filmmaker, holds his largest museum¡¾level solo exhibition in Japan. Known for his poetic interplay of light and shadow, the exhibition brings together immersive installations and film screenings, complemented by artist talks and curated events.

Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo – ¡ÈMOT¡Çs 30th Anniversary Exhibition Choreographies of the Everyday¡É
Commemorating its 30th anniversary, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo presents a collection survey spanning 90 years of Japanese postwar and contemporary art. The exhibition features nine decade-themed galleries, highlighting major works by figures like Yayoi Kusama and Hiroshi Sugimoto, alongside recent acquisitions showcased together for the first time.

Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo – ¡ÈAki Sasamoto¡Çs Life Laboratory¡É
This mid-career retrospective introduces the dynamic practice of Aki Sasamoto, known for combining sculpture, installation, and improvisational performance. Featuring early autobiographical works to recent kinetic installations, the exhibition reveals her evolving exploration of the body, space, and storytelling.

Osaka Museum of History – ¡ÈShosoin THE SHOW¡É
This immersive exhibition brings nearly 1,300 years of Shōsōin¡Çs treasures to life through cutting‑edge digital imaging, music, and lighting, alongside high‑precision reproductions supervised by the Imperial Household Agency. Visitors explore themes of history, beauty, and legacy in a multilayered experience.

Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media (YCAM) – ¡ÈYamaguchi Seasonal 2025 / Ryuichi Sakamoto + YCAM InterLab: Forest Symphony¡É
This sound installation by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto in collaboration with YCAM InterLab generates music from bioelectric data collected from trees around the world. First unveiled in 2013, it has been exhibited internationally. The 2025 edition marks its sixth consecutive presentation at Joeiji Temple¡Çs Sesshutei Garden in Yamaguchi City, offering a contemplative audiovisual experience aligned with traditional landscape.

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum – ¡ÈVan Gogh¡Çs Home: the Van Gogh Museum. The Painter¡Çs Legacy, the Family Collection, the Ongoing Story¡É
This first exhibition in Japan to focus exclusively on the Van Gogh family collection explores how Vincent van Gogh¡Çs legacy was preserved by his brother Theo, his wife Jo, and their son Vincent Willem. Featuring paintings, letters, and archival materials, the show traces the transmission of Van Gogh¡Çs dreams through generations.

Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art – ¡ÈTakeuchi Seiho: Modern Nihonga Pioneer¡É
This major retrospective traces the life and work of Takeuchi Seiho (1864–1942), a pivotal figure in modern Japanese-style painting. Spanning early to late career, it includes over 100 pieces, such as the Important Cultural Property ¡ÈPosing for the First Time.¡É The exhibition reveals Seiho¡Çs unique blend of traditional and Western painting techniques and his enduring influence on later generations.

Tokyo Photographic Art Museum – ¡ÈTOP 30th Anniversary Luigi Ghirri: Infinite Landscapes¡É
Marking Luigi Ghirri¡Çs first solo museum exhibition in Asia, this retrospective showcases around 130 works from the 1970s to the end of his career. Known for poetic and fragmentary compositions, Ghirri explored the boundaries between reality and image. The exhibition also includes works by Paola Borgonzoni, his wife and fellow artist, along with related archival materials. A screening of the documentary Infinito is also scheduled.

Imabari, Ehime – ¡ÈTANGE of the World: Triumphant Return Exhibition¡É
This special exhibition celebrates world-renowned architect Kenzo Tange through three of his iconic public buildings in his hometown, Imabari. Originally presented in Paris, it returns to Japan with displays across Imabari Civic Hall, the Imabari Tamagawa Museum of Modern Art, and the former Municipal Assembly Hall. Free admission and city-wide installations highlight Tange¡Çs visionary approach to civic architecture and urban planning.

DIESEL ART GALLERY – ¡ÈSEVEN KUSE – NANAKUSE –¡É
Curated by Shintora Gallery, this group exhibition features seven artists, including USUGROW and SHOHEI OTOMO. Known for their bold visual styles, each artist explores a personal ¡Èkuse¡É—a quirky habit or creative impulse—intertwining unique personalities and techniques to reflect the spirit of Tokyo¡Çs underground art culture.

The Hakone Open-Air Museum – ¡ÈTetsuya Noguchi: Armoured Dreamer¡É
Contemporary artist Tetsuya Noguchi explores the theme of human nature through the motif of armour. Featuring 76 works—sculptures and two-dimensional pieces—crafted from modern materials such as resin and acrylic, this exhibition balances near-photorealistic detail with ironic invention. Held as part of the museum¡Çs ¡ÈContemporary Creativity¡É series, it transforms the Main Gallery into a contemplative space where body, myth, and material intersect.

hide gallery – ¡ÈMay Masutani: Passage in Time¡É
Glass artist May Masutani (born in Singapore, based in Toyama) presents delicate blown-glass structures evoking temporality, memory, and organic vibration. Transparent components form a breathing spatial rhythm that lifts invisible sensations into light‑filled sculpture. Exhibition closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays; admission free.
